Anxiety Support at Journey For Tomorrow

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural human response to stress—a feeling of fear, uneasiness, or dread. It can include physical symptoms such as restlessness, sweating, racing thoughts, or a rapid heartbeat. Most people experience occasional anxiety before an exam, an important decision, or a major life change. This kind of worry is normal and usually passes quickly.

When anxious thoughts become constant, overwhelming, or interfere with everyday life, it may be a sign of an anxiety disorder. These conditions are common and treatable, and getting help early can make a big difference.

Signs of an Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety disorders can look different to each person, but they often include:

  • Persistent or uncontrollable anxious thoughts

  • Worry or tension that disrupts daily activities

  • Symptoms that don’t go away—or even intensify—over time

  • Avoiding places or situations you once enjoyed

  • Rapid heartbeat or shortness of breath

  • Dizziness or unexplained aches and pains
